Alfa Spider Series 4
The Alfa Spider Series 4 was the final and major modification of the Spider series. It was introduced and warmly welcomed by Spider enthusiasts in the year 1990. By that time the newly introduced electronic fuel injection was used, the Bosch Motronic which comes with an electric propeller to cool it.
The external features was also changed by taking away the under bumper spoiler in the front as well as the trunk lid spoiler in the rear. Two of the major highlights of the car were the 164-style lights which stretch from side to side covering the full width of the car as well as the bumpers (plastic) which also stretches following the full width. Although this is the last series of the Spiders, it has also become the first generation of all automatic transmission cars.

North America production of the same year did not show any changes in the appearance as well as the mechanical aspects of the car until 1991. So, the official launching of the Spider Series 4 in United States of America was on 1991 putting all that was featured in other countries. Although the 1990 model already used the Bosch Motronic in its fuel injection system, the black bumpers from both ends were retained giving the people the same picture of the Spider series.
Since then, North American standards had changed demanding a power steering capability of all cars. In the case of the Spiders, a larger bolsters for the knee, the airbag on the driver-side and the power steering maneuver capability were included in all productions.
The glorious production of Spiders concluded in 1993. However, the company had one more car to treat their patrons as well as the enthusiasts. Therefore, the most recent Alfa Spider was launched a year after they stopped their production. It was the Commemorative Edition of the Spider and it also was a limited edition. Although it was officially built in 1993, it was categorized into a model in 1994, thus, the last spider to have been produced was not the Series 4. It was the Commemorative Edition (CE) that concluded the glorious, prestigious and famous Spiders. There were only 190 units distributed all over the world bearing a plaque attached to the dashboard inside the car which speaks of a number to be known it is part of the CE.
When you look at the badges found inside the Spider CE or the documentation which goes along with the car, you will know that it was actually built somewhere in May 1993. And although cannot be considered a vintage, it still has the taste of it. The designs can exclusively be traced back to the ancestor of the Spiders. So, having one of the CE is as good as having one of the first series of Spiders including the Duetto and Veloce.
