Alfa Spider Series 2
Using the same chassis assembly another significant upgrade of physical aesthetics were put into the body of 1750 Spider Veloce to give birth to the second generation series of Alfa Romeo Spiders. This car is the Alfa Spider Series 2 with a lot of improvements from the first generation of Spider Series. From the elongated tail of the 1300 Junior, the Spider 1600 junior had a more elegant conventional-type cut-off tail or often referred to as “Kamm Tail”. The luggage space had been improved as well, giving wider space to the luggage and spare tires.
Here are some of the improvements and upgrades of Spider 1600 Junior from 1300 Junior:
* new and fancy door handles
* windscreen has been raked more compared with the first
* interior trims were also improved
* The pedals were high-hinged giving comfort to the driver.

Although, there are few improvements, this second generation Spider is identical with the first generation in physical built. Besides, both of them are referred to as “Junior” which was later dropped to give way to the new models and names of Spiders. While the second generation progresses its way, another type of Spider was introduced to the world – the Spider-Targa. It was in 1974 that the production of almost 2000 units of Targa was produced with the newly-designed hard top cover. It was again the start of yet another innovation in the history of luxury cars as the hard top was introduced.
In 1974 to 1975, a modification for 1300 and 2000 Spider series was called which came to the decision of adding another pair of seats just right behind the front this is to accommodate 4 persons, including the driver, except of 2. And having a name which acquired too much influence, the style of having 4-seat car was followed. Nowadays, only luxury cars offer 2 seats for both the driver and the passenger.
The following year, 1976, bumpers made up of stainless steel were put an end to give way to the new one; rubber-clad with black color bumpers which are the most preferred kind of bumpers in the U.S.
America has been one of the places who patronized the production of Alfa Romeo Spiders. James Bond movies are never shot without the highlights of Spider series cars which are considered a luxury that no one can possibly get as the prices are high enough that only the wealthy businessmen can afford to buy.
Today, these kinds of cars are sought for not because of their beauty, which no one would ever about, but because of its value in the market. It is often collected as part of vintage car collections of the rich and influential people in the U.S.
