Alfa Spider Series 1
There were series of Alfa Romeo Spiders since its introduction into luxury transportation industry on 1965. Alfa Romeo, Italian Manufacture, after they have created a foundation by Pininfarina’s Duetto, it never stopped to gain and gather awards of recognition for the best cars the world has ever seen at that time. They were the only one to ever sell cars for up to 5,000,000 lire. No one has ever beaten or equaled their reputation of being able to produce the internationally wanted cars of all times.
In the late 1968 a new Spider series was introduced bearing the name Spider 1300 Junior. Such car was featured in the movie “The Graduate” starred by famous actor Dustin Hoffman. The car, however, lacked some unimportant components that are present in Duetto or 1750 Spider Veloce. These components include:
* Brake servo
* Hubcaps
* Opening quarter light
* Plastic Headlight fairings
A nick name was given to Spider 1300 Junior; “Osso di Seppia” which means bone of Italian cuttlefish. It was because of the rounded and long tail that the car is famous of. It was a beauty during those times in Italy as well as in the U.S.
The Spider Series 1 is merely another type of “Duetto” but was built to be a transition between the first waves of Alfa Romeo Spiders and the new Spider productions designed by other persons. The original “Duetto” was believed to be the last design of Pininfarina which captured the hearts of the many. However, after his retirement, other designers didn’t want to make revisions on Pininfarina’s famous designs. That is why, until 1993, the designs of Alfa Romeo Spider are almost the same as with the original with little touches of aesthetics from the outside.
The production of Spider 1300 Junior continued as it gained popularity and value in the market. By the late 1972, a new breed of Spider was launch with almost identical design with Spider 1300 Junior. The newly-introduced Spider was the 1972 model of 1600 Junior or Series 2 Spider. And to give way to the new uprising model, the production of Spider 1 Series was discontinued in the year 1977.
Today, Spider 1 Series has more history that could offer than experiences of the people who have ever driven a car like it. It has become the favorite of the people who collect vintage cars. Its reputation was heard all over the world and the elegance of its unique designs made him the preferred car for most of the members of the noble families in Italy and America.
The Spider 1 Series though classic in design still costs expensive in today’s market especially that they are now considered the vintage cars.
